Renal Course for Nurses: Peritoneal Dialysis
This course equips nurses with the knowledge and clinical skills required to manage patients undergoing Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). Participants will learn the principles of PD, nursing care before, during and after dialysis, PD catheter care, complication recognition, and patient education. The programme integrates theory, simulation practice and supervised clinical training to ensure safe and effective PD management.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain the principles and mechanisms of peritoneal dialysis
Identify complications related to PD and initiate appropriate actions
Demonstrate correct PD catheter exit site care
Perform CAPD exchange and APD therapy safely
Provide patient and family education on PD care
